Stephen Hendrie: Southend United defender out after hernia operation

Stephen Hendrie joined Southend from West Ham in June 2017

Southend United defender Stephen Hendrie will spend several weeks out of action after having a hernia operation.

The former Hamilton left-back, 24, has made 24 appearances for the Shrimpers this season but has not played since their defeat by Plymouth on 12 January.

The League One club say Scot Hendrie is expected to make a “full recovery” before the end of the 2018-19 campaign.

“We’d like to wish Stephen the best in his rehab and hope to see him back fit as soon as possible,” a statement said.
