Jersey Reds: London Scottish inflict ‘uncharacteristic’ home loss on islanders

Jersey had not lost at home for almost a year in the league

Jersey Reds boss Harvey Biljon says his side will have to re-assess their game after an “uncharacteristic” 24-14 loss at home to London Scottish.

Their third successive loss sees Jersey slip to fourth in the Championship.

The Reds were 24-0 down before Jack Macfarlane and Mark Best scored tries in the final quarter of the game.

“A lot of areas of our game didn’t function. Line-outs, our execution out of hand, our skill areas, unforced errors,” Biljon told BBC Radio Jersey.

“It’s very uncharacteristic but something we’re going to have to go away and address very quickly.”

Biljon’s side face a trip to Yorkshire Carnegie next week, with the island side’s director of rugby hopeful of his team turning around their recent form.

“We know we lost a game of rugby, but what happens for us is we get an opportunity in a week’s time to get back out here and do it again,” he added.

“This group of players will look at this game and be pretty honest with themselves, so most of the hard work will be done by them already before I need to address anything, so let’s see how we got through the week.”
