A gym in the district has shut down despite its bosses claiming in June last year that they were intending to invest more money in the venture.
Notices on the main entrance confirmed the business had closed and directed users to its website.
Trugym has not been available for comment.
Rushtons Insolvency Ltd, the company handling the closure, has so far also not responded to requests for information.
But national sales manager for the gym, Tim Kipling, rejected the claims at the time, saying the business had simply been having some IT problems with its website.
He said that the gym had 1,400 members, noting: “Not only are we not closing, but we’re looking to re-invest in the gym’s facilities in the near future.”
The gym has been on this site since 2002, though was known as Fitness First until three or four years ago.
A woman who this week contacted the Keighley News, and asked not to be named, said she had been a Trugym Keighley member for more than a year, adding the news of it shutting had come as a complete shock.
“It’s very disappointing,” she said. “I know there was some kind of problem there last year, but I assumed it had been sorted out. I feel sorry for the staff.”
